What is MPIN

In this post, I will try to answer all your questions. So let’s start with the first question.

What is MPIN?

M-PIN is a type of code. It is same as the four digits of ATM PIN (6 digits in some banks). Just like you need to enter the PIN code every time you use an ATM same is the case of M-PIN, you have to fill the M-PIN while doing transactions with Mobile Banking, USSD Banking, and UPI apps. You can use it only while doing transactions from your mobile. Thus, it secures the transactions from mobile banking, USSD banking and UPI with your account.

Why is MPIN Necessary?

There is a need for two level of protection for transactions from the bank account. Like when you use an ATM, the first level of security is your ATM and the second level of security is your ATM PIN. Unless anyone has these two things, he cannot steal from your account.
